So our family just got a new riding lawn mower. We have never had one before, and it doesn’t cut the same way as push mowers. What is the best way to cut with a riding lawn mower pattern wise? trying to go back and forth has us missing a lot of spots because it turns so wide. Any and all suggestions are appreciated

Read the manual to determine all safety aspects first.
Then drink a 6 pack and start cutting the grass.
Now go drink a beer and relax

Cut in a circular pattern, around the edges first and then spiral inwards. That prevents all the stopping and backing up. Spiral around trees and shrubs. You will cut some of the same area twice, but using a spiral will save a lot of time and stopping and backing up.
Note the tall areas where you made the turns on the corners of the lawn. Get some round up and kill the grass in those corners so the lawn has a smooth round corner that exactly fits the turning radius of the riding mower.
Once the grass is dead in the corners, remove it, put down some bark and plant a few petunias or other flowers that require little or no maintenance.
